Where do I start?

I wish I could say "I'm back", but I can't because I'm at the library using their computer. Apparently Qwest long our info, or screwed up our sign on date or something, so we won't get our DSL hooked up until Friday. Annoying. I've got lots to post about the new house, but I don't have time right now as I've got tons of emails and junk mail to sort through. I've been a cleaning feind lately with the new house, old house and my regular jobs. As I've said before, I'll probably have Popeye arms by the time I'm through.;) Anyway, that's all for now, but hopefully I can post more on Friday.

It's finally here!

Jesus, you'd think I was about to give birth or something with as excited as I am to get this over with. Much less painful than birth.....I hope. ;) So my brother and I spent today moving the boxes from the dining room out to the garage and all the boxes from downstairs out to the garage. Plus, I packed up the kitchen and dining room. The cupboards are empty.....I wonder what's for dinner? ;) I have to pack up the bathroom later. It is supposed to be hot...like really hot all weekend so what a joy that will be.
Emma had her last day of preschool today and she was completely oblivious to it. Next week I know she'll be asking to go. The funniest part was saying goodbye to her teachers. I've never heard the term "spitfire" used so much in all my life. That's a nice way of saying turdish little brat. ;)
I don't know when the computer is going to be dismantled, so this could be my last post for a little while. I'll talk to you next time from my new office!

Only 3 days to go!

It's coming down to the wire now. I've got the closets packed up and there are boxes everywhere. We did our walk through of the house last night and it was crazy. The owner, who was not living there when we looked at it, has moved back in. So now there is furniture and stuff in there, where as before it was empty. Who has ever heard of someone moving out before they sell and then moving back in after they sell? What a wack job! And the best part is that the guy was gone, but shows up right as we are getting there and my realtor has to ask him what he was doing. On top of it, he left his bank card, credit card and drivers license on the counter in the kitchen. Right out in the open. Shouldn't that be in your wallet since you are out driving right now, Buddy?!
I did think it was nice, though, that if I ordered something with his credit card that it would show up at the correct address. ;)

Good Times

I got home at 2 a.m. this morning from a night out with the girls. We went to Prairie Meadows and had so much fun, drinking, laughing and gambling amongst ourselves. I won the last race of the night and it was a "double or nothing" kind of race, so that was a nice ending. They had an old man, blues band and ugh....it sucked, but it was still fun to make fun of the mullet-sporting drummer. Please tell me these are not coming back in style!
Rob had Emma and Kyle out at the inlaws house yesterday and apparently they got pretty tired out. They kept Kyle overnight and Emma slept in until 10:00 this morning. That rules! I only slept until 9:30, but it was so nice to wake up on my own and not because Emma was making a ton of racket.

Gorgeous day!

We spent the day outside at the park and it was fantastic. The perfect day to sit outside and soak up the sun. After being cooped up inside for the past week, we needed it. I was so worried about keeping sunblock on Emma, I forgot about myself, so guess who has a bright red nose? ;)
So there is a house down the street from me that has been on the market for months.....since at least January, maybe earlier. I drive by it everyday to take Kyle to school and yesterday I noticed they had an open house sign up for Sunday. Guess what time they had listed......3:30-4:00. A half an hour?! Oh yeah they are really going to get tons of business in a half hour. Not to mention, going to all the trouble of getting it cleaned up for a half hour open house. Craziness!

Back to the norm

Everyone is healthy again today. Or at least healthy enough to return to the normal routine. Kyle went to school, Rob went to work, Emma went to preschool and I cleaned today. I am also currently eating my Amish friendship bread that I made with cheesecake flavored pudding mix. YUM!!!!

My crazy daughter has decided that riding her bike inside the house is a good idea. We've only got one more week here, so I'm letting her. She won't be doing that at the new house, that's for sure! Her bike needs to have the wheels greased, so all I can hear is "squeeeeeek, jibba jabba.....squeeeeeeek, jibba jabba".

Here are a couple of pictures of how I found Emma asleep yesterday:

She likes to sit on the table in front of the window and finger it all up, but she must have gotten too tired. ;)

Speaking of Emma, last week I caught her outside "watering" the grass with the gas can. I guess she thought since it has a spout, that it must be a watering can. I just about had a heart attack. Kyle would have never thought to do something like that. Can you imagine what her teenage years are going to be like?! So here is a picture of what gasoline does to grass:

Still sickies

The thing that sucks the most about being sick while your kids are sick is that you can't just lay down and peacefully relax. Kyle is home today with a fever. Emma is better and so am I, but still not at 100% and trying to remember who had which medicine at what time, is a pain in the ass. Especially because one of the medicine receivers is me. Although it is easier, I suppose to take care of sluggish kids while I'm sluggish than rambunctious ones. I remember one time before I got pregnant with Emma.....I had just quit my job and Kyle was 4. I was sick and throwing up and he was fine, so the whole day he was in the living room watching tv and playing and I was in between the bedroom and bathroom. My MIL came over after work to check on me and the look on her face when she saw the house was priceless. Hurricane Kyle had been through and he had even ripped down the living room curtains somehow. So she took him with her. I still had to clean it all the next day, but at least he wasn't there. ;)
So today I've been labeling and moving the rubbermaid boxes into the main room in the basement. That way they all say what room they belong in and they are easy to move when the time comes. You know, only 9 days from now.....Holy Shit!

Sickies

Well, I was right. We did get sick. Poor Emma is the worst of us. She was running a fever yesterday and threw up in her bed last night. I am keeping her home from preschool today and she is still asleep. I am feeling better today but definitely not 100%. The house was so nasty and stinky that I forced myself to do the dishes, take out the trash and do the laundry. I also got a call saying that my glasses are in, but that would take me putting on clothes and showering......so they'll have to wait until tomorrow. ;) Yesterday morning I opened up the garage door and got the shit scared out of me. The cable that holds the garage door up, had broken. Luckily just on the one side so the door didn't come crashing down or anything, but still it was the loudest cracking sound I'd ever heard and I screamed like a little girl. Plus the big metal spring was just dangling there, so I wanted to get the car out of there as fast as possible. Thankfully Rob fixed it after work last night.

Happy Mother's Day to me

In typical Rob fashion, I got told Happy Mother's Day today, but no cards or anything. Not like I expect anything else, since I've known him for so long.....but I was hoping that one of these days he'd surprise me. Not today apparently, though.
I did get some nice picture frames with sayings of the kids names from the inlaws. You know, like "E is for energy" for Emma's name and "K is for kindness" for Kyle's name. Cute stuff like that. I also got a starter batch of Amish friendship bread. Hot damn that stuff is good. I can't wait to make and chow down on my own.
Unfortunately Emma has come down with a cold and cough today. I can feel some icky-ness building up in my throat too, so chances are, by tomorrow I'll have the real thing. At least if we get it over with this week, we'll be feeling better by next week for our move. Won't have time to be sick, you know? ;)

Uncle Ben's rules!

I spent most of today packing. Not really a lot of packing to do, but there were things that could be boxed up that weren't. For example.......hats, gloves, winter stuff.....or the tupperware, pots, pans, dishes that aren't necessity for the next couple of weeks. So our dining room is lined with boxes and our cupboards are almost empty. I am sooooo looking forward to this move. Have I mentioned that? ;)
When I went grocery shopping the other night I had purchased one of those Uncle Ben's ready rice packets because it was on sale. I have seen the light! I'll never buy regular rice again.....it was awesome! A minute and a half in the microwave, in the packet and you don't add anything. Plus it was really good. So, I'm sold.

Another cool thing.....Rob got a brand new van for work. His boss had told him a little while ago that he would be getting one, but I had gotten so used to Rob's old boss talking out of his ass, that I never really believed it would happen. I'm so jazzed about someone actually following through with what they say they are going to do. ;) He spent all day today cleaning out the old one and switching things over. He's so proud, even though it isn't really his. Awwwww, how cute. ;)

My favorite words in Emma-speak

1. Lightball for lightbulb
2. Eyebrowns for eyebrows
3. Hotcorn for popcorn

The "D" List

I just love Kathy Griffin. I watched her show on Bravo the other night and once again laughed my ass off. She is like the celebrity D list version of me. ;) She just gets up there and for an hour talks/bitches about other celebrities and all the stupid shit they do. That's what I would do if I were a D list comedian! I love it! Knowing Bravo, I'm sure that they will be re-running it a million times over if you want to catch it.

Whew!

I feel like I've been in a cross country race. Yesterday was SSL, today was preschool, a doctor's appt., a picnic and the mall. All in the rain and wind.
Here are some pictures of Emma at Sesame Street Live:

For the most part she enjoyed the show, but after intermission, all she kept saying was "I go home". "I tired, I go home". And I was like.....ummm, we are here for you so sit down and like it! ;)
Today she had preschool and in the mean time I had to go to the library, post office and I had an eye doc appt. Well after waiting for quite some time to get in, I went through the process and then had to get my eyes dilated. So the rest of the day I was blinded and my eyes were constantly running......while walking, driving, ect. How safe is that?! Then Kyle was having a Mother's day picnic at school that was supposed to start at 11:20. Well Emma gets out at 11:30, so we had to be late. When we got there he was sitting all alone and with no lunch because I was bringing a picnic lunch for us. He looked so cute and pathetic. Then we were supposed to be able to play after, but because we were late, there was no time. Then his class was putting on a play, but I missed most of it because I had to keep chasing Emma and trying to keep her quiet and out of the way. Ugh.....she is a handful sometimes. Especially when I am half blinded. ;)
Here is a little corsage that Kyle made for me to wear:

After that we went to the mall so I could buy my new glasses. I desperately need new ones as the old ones are broken and have mismatched frames. Oh yes, I know how hot that makes me sound. ;) While there I ran into a girl that used to be part of the mom's group and she completely blew me off. I know there is a possibility that she didn't recognized me.....but come on, I am SO unforgettable!

I did it

I actually completed the altered letters. It was time consuming having to wait for every coat to dry, but I love the finished product, so it was worth it. I also had time to make two Mother's Day cards. What a productive girl I am!

Now we are off to Sesame Street Live this morning. Wish us luck. ;)

So adorable

I do have a good boy, I really do. :) I woke up to find this note from Kyle to Rob in our doorway this morning:

I have no idea what made him write this, but it's pretty cute. One of those cheesy things that is going to embarrass the hell out of him later in life when his mom has it embroidered on a pillow or something. ;)

Speaking of embarrassing and Mom....Kyle has had on his wall since he was a baby, some of those puffy letters that spell out his name. When we were talking about his new room, he told me that he didn't want those up anymore because they were for babies. So I decided to do some altered wooden letters in his initials instead and put them on his shelf. I also decided to do the same for Emma. Here are some pics of the before products:

I hope to start working on them tonight, so maybe tomorrow I'll have pictures of the finished products. I doubt it, but it's nice to have goals. ;)

You'd think we were wealthy

I finished up our "shopping list" for things for the move/new house today. We'd made a list of things we wanted to get a couple of months ago and little by little we were purchasing things. Kind of nice on the pocketbook to spread it out instead of all at once. So today I got primer and paint for the kid's rooms, grout for the bathroom, shelves for Kyle's room and a tv stand for the new tv. Lowe's didn't have the rubber mulch that I wanted so that will have to wait. The nice thing was that I had a $10 off coupon that I got to use. I get so jazzed when I save money. ;)

We had a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese today for Emma's friend, Emily. Normally I don't like Chuck E Cheese's, but on Monday it's not very busy, so that was nice.

Kyle had a good day at school on Thursday and today, so that was a relief to me. Only a few more weeks of school and we can move on.

I got my camera battery today. It was prefect timing because we have Sesame Street Live on Wednesday and I didn't want to be without my camera for that. Emma is going to love it because it is all about Elmo this time. She and Kyle went last year when they had it on a weekend, but this year it's during the week for some reason. Kyle has gone for years now so I'm pretty sure he is ok about giving it up.

Sunny Sunday

So the garage sale craziness is over and although we didn't sell as much as we would have liked, we still did alright. I made $45....but I hardly brought anything back home with me. And it was $45, that I didn't have before.

When I got home yesterday Emma said in Emma speak "I go preschool?". I said, "no not today". And she said "morrow?". "No, tomorrow is Sunday". "Oh, morrow is sunglasses day!" She is so cute sometimes. And it turns out, we probably will be wearing sunglasses today. ;)

Rob and Kyle went fishing somewhere today....I don't remember now....a couple hours away. Kyle originally didn't want to go until he heard that they'd be taking the boat. He is all over that boat. They got up and left by 6ish this morning. There are only a few things I can think of that would get me up and out of the house by 6:00....and fishing is NOT one of them. ;)

I went by the new house yesterday and the owner was there. It has been vacant except for some clothes and such for months now, so I hope this means he is finally getting his junk out of there and completely moved out. Only 19 more days until the move.....yay!!!!

Kyle

Sometimes I wonder what on Earth is going on in my son's head.

Monday I got home from playgroup and there was a message on my answering machine. Whenever I am gone and I hear the beep of a message it always makes my stomach turn, because 9 out of 10 times it is something about Kyle at school. I wish they would just call my cell phone like I've told them a million times so I can just talk to someone instead of the dreaded messages. So anyway, it was his principal telling me that he'd been in the office that day for fighting at recess. I was annoyed mostly because we'd been months without an incident, so I was taken off guard. But it was ok....people make mistakes....nothing to get too worked up over....right?
Then Tuesday....same thing....only this time is was at PE. And it was the same kid. Some kid named Justin, that until this week, I've never even heard of. And as usual, it's something like the other kid was in Kyle's face, yelling at him, making him upset, and instead of walking away, or telling the teacher....Kyle punched him. So that means Kyle gets sent to the office and the other kid doesn't. Sooooo annoying, because this is ALWAYS the case with Kyle. Even though he tries to mind his own business, he knee-jerk reaction takes over and gets him in trouble.
So Tuesday night I'm really annoyed and since he has a field trip scheduled for this Friday, I thought that would be a good motivational tool to get him to shape up for the rest of the week. So I would say things like "you want to be able to go on Friday, right?" or "if you are in the principal's office anymore this week, you won't be able to go on the field trip Friday". Well that backfired, because yesterday he not only got in trouble for fighting with the same kid again, but he told him to "fuck off". AHHHHHHH!!!!!! My eight year old tells people to fuck off. Nice. Why don't we just move to Alabama and knock all of our front teeth out, while we're at it?

I love this kid....but he is driving me to drink. And now I get to take he and Emma with me to the garage sale on Friday. Lovely.

Look at this beautiful face....why does he torture me so?!!!!!! ;)

Ahhh, the sun

How I've missed it. ;)

This morning I dropped Emma off at the park for preschool and then I went over to this guy's house that I clean once a month. He is a bachelor who actually has a pretty clean place for being a single guy, but only going once a month means that I scrub my ass off while I'm there. My forearms feel like I've been playing tennis for hours because of the soap scum in the shower. If someone would have told me 20 years ago that this is what my daily life would be like......I'm pretty sure I'd have gotten better grades. That or been a little more picky about a husband. ;)

So now that it's officially May I'm getting even more excited....if that's possible.....about our move. I can hardly believe we are only 25 days out. After a year of planning and 2 more years about talking about it, we are actually doing it. Feels good.

Looking forward to some nicer weather tomorrow

Our playgroup that was scheduled for today had to be held indoors because of the rainy/yucky weather. That was ok, but I still prefer to go to the park in the sunshine. Emma's preschool class is scheduled for the park tomorrow, and the weather is supposed to be in the 70's with sun. She will think that is awesome.
I got all of my garage sale items out of the house today. My friend, Gina is having a sale this weekend and she said I could bring my stuff. I doubt she knew how much I was going to have. ;) Our friend, Steph was kind enough to take it over there for me so I wouldn't have to make the trip. I knew being occasionally nice would pay off. ;)

This moving/packing stuff is really starting to take shape. With all the garage sale stuff out of here, I have tons of room to stack boxes. The unfortunate thing is that most of the stuff that still needs packing is stuff that we use daily. So I can tell that the week before the move we'll be digging around in boxes looking for silverware.

Last night I watched that movie "Tristan + Isolde". It was good and there was plenty of eye candy. I enjoy a movie that combines hotness with blood and guts.
Since I previously posted pictures of Kyle at swim lessons, I figured I should probably post one of Emma too :
