Some pages

I got some new scrapbook pages done this past weekend. They were pages that I'd made awhile ago and just needed to add the photos, so it was kind of cheating. But still......they are complete and that's all that matters. I got all of Halloween done, most of fall and soccer. This weekend we have an all day crop at the library and I'll be finishing up fall and Emma's birthday. Tonight we are going to take the kids to see Celtic Woman at Wells Fargo Arena as a birthday treat for Emma. She LOVES Irish music and calls the Celtic Women her "girls". :) Here are some of the completed pages:

Emma's birthday

Emma turned 5 years old today. It's hard to believe it's been that long since we've had an Emma in our lives. ;) We had a little family party on Saturday. The theme was Tinkerbell and here are a few pictures of the cake I made and Emma with some of her gifts.

Wii

I got a Wii a couple of months back and have kept it hidden as it is a Christmas present for the family. Rob and my brother know where it is and this weekend convinced me that we should get it out and use it. You know, to "check and make sure it works alright" wink, wink. The kids were at the in-laws this weekend, so I agreed. We only had the sports game that the system comes with, but we played for hours. We were up until 3:00 am, 2:00 with the time change, thankfully. That thing is just a shit ton of fun. My shoulders were sore yesterday from all that tennis. ;)

Tarzan's medical history and a Halloween party

I went to the library today and as I was walking though an aisle I caught a glimpse of a book entitled "Tarzan's Tonsillitis". That's not a subject I thought they'd cover. ;)
We had our playgroup Halloween party the other night at a friend's house. She did a great job decorating and making a "spooky room" in her basement. The kids looked so cute in their costumes and their buckets were overflowing with treats and goodies. Kyle was a little annoying with his Yu Gi Oh hair that he kept taking off. I was like "you picked that costume, now you wear it". Another friend's son had the same issue with his Davy Jones costume. He kept taking off his octopus-type headgear. So between the two of them, my friend and I were telling them all night to put their head/hair back on. ;)
Here is a picture of Kyle pretending to be scared by the spooky room.....you know for the benefit of the younger kids:

More pumpkin patching

Today we had Emma's field trip for preschool. It just happened that Kyle was out of school today so he got to come along too. We went to a little farm outside of Ankeny that had tons of pumpkins and some fun other activities like a hay bale maze and a corn barn. They also had a giant log swing that the kids liked, but had trouble staying on:

Early trick or treat

My mom and I took the kids to trick or treat at Living History Farms this past weekend. They have scary stories, marshmallow roasts and stops along the trail for the kids to get candy. It was a nice night to be out so it was really busy and the kids were bitching about being tired and their feet hurting, etc. Kyle has a Yu Gi Oh costume that he refused to wear for whatever reason so Emma was Strawberry Shortcake and Kyle wore Rob's Frankenstein mask and a Halloween t-shirt. Whatever!

Phone books

Because of my industrious and penny pinching ways, I decided to earn some extra cash by delivering phone books this year. I'd done it before back in my college days. Here is a list of differences between delivering phone books then and now:

Then: I was young and in shape
Now:
I'm old and flubbery

Then: I had no children
Now:
I have a 4 year old "helper"

Then: Filling up my car cost $10
Now: $35+

Then: I was delivering in Ames, where phone books are about 3/4 of an inch thick
Now: I'm delivering Des Moines phone
books that are about 3 inches thick and heavy as shit

Then: $100 seemed like a good pay check
Now:
Fuck your measly $100 DEX!

Hilariously cheese-tastic song lyrics

You know it's going to be terrible when "farther" rhymes with "enchilada". ;)

BABY BASH (f/ Akon) LYRICS

Baby I'm Back

[Intro - Akon & Baby Bash]
Hoooo
Yeah
Said everything that you want me to I'll do it
Tell me what the word is already [x4]

[Chorus - Akon]
Don't look no farther!
Baby im back (yeah)
Im here to cater to you (any thing that you want me: do ill do it)
Cause Ill be your lover (ill be your lover)
Ill be your best friend
Tell me what I gotta do (tell me what I gotta do and ill do it)

[Baby Bash]
Now im back in a flesh
Feelin so blessed, back in your corner suga, suga don't stress
Forget about the rest; let's go inside, im back in your zone
Baby im back in your vibe, now I cant be denied I can lie im on ya
I never ever wanna say sayonara
Some body told me that the grass was greener
On the other side of lake Arriba
Never really used to be a mean to cheat her
What I gotta do to be a keeper
These words comin out the speaker, true love is off the meter

[Chorus]

[Baby Bash]
I was gone for a minute but now im home,
Please forgive me for being a rolling stone,
Please forgive me let me polish it up like chrome,
Get off the phone till he swears to leave me alone,
Let my start your interest, now there's no more dating on the internet,
Cause you already know how I get it wet, how I get it so saucy and I get respect,
You don't have to look no farther, you dealin' with the whole enchilada
You don't have to look no farther, you hotter then a fire starter

[Chorus]

[Baby Bash]
I was gone for a minute, (oooohhh) [repeat x4]
Now im back let me hit it (oooohhh) [repeat x4]

[Chorus x2]

Scrapbook pages

I went to a scrapbooking breast cancer fundraiser yesterday at our local scrapbook store with some of my scrappin' buddies. Even though we chatted a lot, I did get 10 pages done, including Disney and Kyle's birthday. I am currently caught up, which is nice with fall/holiday/Emma's birthday stuff coming up. I always take a ton of pictures this time of year. Anyway, here are a few from yesterday:

Kyle's 4th grade picture

Again, a little bit funky on the smile, but I told him I wanted him to smile showing his teeth and this is what he came up with. He's still kinda cute though. ;) I do like that his face looks fuller than last year. He'd lost a lot of weight when he started taking his medication, so he looked really thin in last years picture. He's gained 10 pounds this past year so he looks healthier to me.

Aaron Neville

You know that song by Aaron Neville, "Everybody Plays the Fool"? It came on the radio today when we were driving home from preschool. I don't really care for it that much, so I changed the channel. Emma immediately had a shit fit, and started screaming for me to turn it back. Ummmmm...what the hell? So, I turned it back and she instantly stopped freaking out. I had no idea she was such a raging Aaron Neville fan. ;)

Screen musings

Rob and I have been watching "The Sopranos on DVD". We never had HBO so neither of us had ever seen the show. The nice thing about watching it after the fact, is that we can just watch it back to back and not have to wait. I have noticed myself after a couple hours of shows per night, beginning to talk a little "jersey" and cursing a lot. "get the fuck outta hee" ;)

I also went to see the movie "Eastern Promises" with some friends the other night. I like violence and nakedness in a movie and this one did not disappoint. Although it was a bit much for my friend who told me that I wasn't allowed to pick movies anymore. ;) The odd thing was that the movie didn't really have an ending, it just kind of stopped. I can take some artsy film making now and then, but maybe I'm a bit old fashioned because I kind of need an ending to my movie.

This summer I've been watching the USA show "Burn Notice". It has one of my favorite actors from back in "The Pretender" days. Anyway, the season finale was last week and it won't be back until next summer. I've got a craving, so I hope Nip/Tuck is going to be back on soon.

Soccer pics

Sorry it's been awhile since I've updated. I was sick last week and didn't really do much or have much to talk about. I don't really have too much to talk about now either, come to think of it. ;) So here are a couple of pictures of Kyle and his soccer team:

Fall decor and 4 year old weight watchers

I put up some fall type decorations the other day and it just really made me ready for pumpkin patches and apple orchards. Our mantel looks good with these oranges, brown and reds. My picture is a little crooked for some reason, so just ignore that part. ;)

Speaking of fall, today was quite chilly this morning. We decided we were going to try out the church that Emma goes to preschool. Since it was only 60ish degrees I had to go through Emma's closet to pull out some new pants. We always laugh at Emma's tummy that protrudes quite a bit and we call it her "boof". Anyway, I had bought a bunch of 5T pants last spring when they were on clearance. We tried on 5 different pairs before we found one that we could button, and that one isn't even going to last very long. I was like...damn, Emma we need to get you on a weight watchers program! ;)

Preschooler

Emma started preschool yesterday and as expected, had a great time. It was so nice dropping her off and being able to come home, unlike last year. I had laundry from vacation to get done and bills to pay, so the 2.5 hours went by way too fast.

Back from Disney

That was a fast trip. It wasn't much in the way of relaxing because we did so much, but it was awesome. We still had a great time and ate like kings. We did a ton of walking, but I still gained weight because of all the super fatty fat food I ate. We went to a pirates of the Caribbean party with a dessert bar, a breakfast with Alice in Wonderland and a buffet dinner at a 50's type diner. Plus all of the other snacks and meals provided by my richy rich sister. ;)

Random thoughts about travelling, Disney World and people in general:

-I'd never flown before.....so the whole airport, plane ride stuff that I had thought was so big time and intimidating, was totally no big deal. Signs tell you where to go and what to do. Plus, since I'd never done it before I wasn't at all bothered by taking my shoes off or having my bag x-rayed.

-It was hot....so that lends itself to seeing people wearing less that they should be wearing. And since this was one of the biggest vacation spots in the world, we're talking about a variety of gnarly and super fat people wearing skin tight shorty shorts and bikini tops. Ugh...I'll have nightmares for years.

-That isn't even the tip of the iceberg though as far as feet are concerned. I am a nasty feet connoisseur....I just can't seem to look away from bunions, hammer toes, yellow gnarly nails that are curled over the toe by an inch......it was a fucking smorgasbord of podiatric delight!

-since I lived in a college town for a good number of years, I am used to seeing and hearing people from other countries, but there were so many more dialects and people I'd never run across before...like people in line with us that were from Trinidad, park employees from Morocco and people sitting by us at a restaurant from England. It was very interesting to talk to people and hear their accents.

-Speaking of accents....I lived in Texas when I was a kid and I've heard "ya'll"'s galore....but I had never, until this weekend, hear anyone in real life speak like "Mater" from Cars. This man said to his wife "Dag gum, man!" I was like....did I just hear what I thought I heard? So every time after that we'd hear a thick southern drawl my sister and I would break out the "dag gum, did you hear that", as drawl-y as possible.

-People let their teenage daughters dress/act like whores. Not that this is too surprising, but again I've never witnessed it up close and personal like that. We constantly were seeing 14/15/16 year old girls getting dry humped by their boyfriends, right in front of mom and dad. I was like "time to pony up the dough for another abortion, right dad?!!!" Then there was the swearing and cussing of the children. This one girl told her dad that he was a "fucking pussy" and he never said a word to her. Nice values. I know, why don't you reward your bratty-ass kids with a trip to Disney World!!!

Anyway, that's about all I have to say about that, but here are a few pictures:
